Report: Egypt to issue construction permit for El Dabaa nuke 2021

MOSCOW, Aug 25 (PRIME) -- Egypt has delayed the deadline for provision of a construction permit for the El Dabaa nuclear power plant to be build together with Russia to July–December 2021 from July–December 2020, Russian nuclear power industry’s daily Strana Rosatom reported on Tuesday.

“Head of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority of Egypt Amged El-Wakeel confirmed that a construction permit for the first reactor of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant by the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority is expected in the second half of 2021. The license will allow us to start preparation for pouring of concrete into foundation of the facilities,” the newswire reported.

The El Dabaa nuclear power plant will have four 1,200-megawatt units. Construction of the first unit was to start in the second half of 2020 and its launch was planned for 2026.
